Smart attribute based encryption for cloud systems and Internet of Things

The cloud computing paradigm shares many aspects of current IT enterprise infrastructures (e.g. security management in organisations, facility management, regulatory frameworks), but with increasing concerns about security, reliability, and information security. For that reason, the research institute Austrian Institute of Technology AIT offers state-of-the-art concepts, methods, and technologies for implementing protected, reliable, and highly secure cloud-computing environments for critical IT infrastructures.

Experts are designing secure cloud services which support collaborative work on cryptographically-protected data, i.e., with support for selective fine grained access control and built-in resiliency. Furthermore, they are developing privacy-enhancing technologies which are used to build trustworthy identity management systems and privacy-friendly smart applications for cloud computing and the Internet of Things (IoT).

A special emphasis is given to the integration of cryptographic methods on all levels to achieve strong security and privacy guarantees by design.

Furthermore, the research at AIT focuses on system design and integration of quantum cryptography solutions as well as product development using quantum inspired technologies to support research & development activities in quantum optics and other applied research fields such as life sciences.
