Vehicle-mounted road light measurement for measuring, digitising and optimising road illumination

The product LimeCam is a vehicle-mounted, multi-sensor system for measuring, digitising and optimising road illumination and generating key information for planning, optimisation, verification, and quality control in related projects. Energy consumption and operational costs of light installations with thousands of light points are optimised with practical and real-world data based methods.

The system is used by energy suppliers, municipal service providers and communities , who are responsible for public light points in an entire region or city. Furthermore it’s used by engineering companies, consultants, and light planners , who implement light installations in residential areas, parking areas, and other private or public locations.

LimeCam consists of a support structure, the LimeCam-Rack , to which an array of sensors are attached, each measuring a different aspect of the illumination infrastructure. The rack can be reliably mounted to a wide variety of vehicles in less than 15 minutes. The measurements are performed at night with the measurement vehicle moving with velocities of up to 80 km/h with the regular traffic flow. There is no need to close-off streets for the measurement. At the end of a measurement night, recorded data are transferred to the LimeCam server and processed with LimeCam software. This software is an integrated package that includes data management, data analysis, image processing, photogrammetry, map handling, graphical rendering, and report creation. Data processing is widely automated. The user defines the processing options, the area of data to be exported, and selects the export and display format.

The customers receive reliable information on which they can build a plan to qualify, service, upgrade, or renew a light installation. This includes a database with details of all acquired light points with 3D-coordinates, illuminance measures, and photos, as well as light maps with 2D-light-distributions, road maps or aerial images in the background and a detailed report.
